A loerik is a blend of lambics that will produce a gueuze whose fermentation for some unknown reason will take much longer than a regular gueuze. While a gueuze needs several months in the cellar before it is sparkling, a Leerik will need to rest for years due to this slow fermentation. Because yeasts do not work as strongly as they should, this atypical gueuze is considered lazy, hence the name
